Modernizing Traffic Flow



   

WSP USA: Dallas Horseshoe Design Build for TxDOT

The Dallas Horseshoe included the construction of more than 73 lane-miles of new roadway, 37 conventional bridges, 60-plus retaining walls, and two major long-span river crossing bridges. TxDOT’s goals were to permanently improve traffic flow through downtown; replace critical interstate bridges – in service long past their intended design lives; modernize and accommodate the city’s ever-growing network of pedestrian trails; and to do it all in an aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly way. As the lead engineer, WSP designed all the roadways, bridges, river crossings, retaining walls, drainage, signage, geotechnical engineering, and maintenance of traffic planning.
