In addition, we would solicit your thoughts on an associated matter. Last year at this conference, we recognized William R. Ratliff with a Lifetime Achievement Award. We would solicit your nominations for the 2017 award - a person who has singularly affected the engineering industry of our state through technical, business, political or other achievements. If you have suggestions or nominations, please send them (with some background on the individual) to Steve Stagner at .

For several years, TxDOT has conducted annually a series of training sessions on the Department's procedures for dealing with consultant errors and omissions. These sessions are primarily for agency employees, but to provide a broader perspective, ACEC Texas is allocated four seats for each session for private sector individuals.

The sessions for this summer are

  • June 1-2: Corpus Christi
  • June 12-13: Austin
  • June 26-27: Fort Worth
  • August 8-9: Houston
  • August 14-15: Tyler

These positions will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with only one individual per firm. If you are interested in attending, email Steve Stagner at .

ACEC Texas will host a meeting for East Texas firms at Willow Brook Country Club in Tyler on Thursday, June 8, 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. ACEC Texas President Steve Stagner will review ACEC Texas activities and the results of the legislative session. Register at

ACEC Texas will offer our Consulting Engineering Leadership Forum beginning in June. This program is for mid-career professionals in firms making the transition from technical leader to business leader. It covers leadership skills, business skills, strategic thinking skills, marketing, and other issues. Although the application deadline has technically passed, we still have a few open spots for the class. If you are interested or wish to nominate someone, contact Michael Hancock at or download program information by clicking this link.
