Walter P Moore: Mosaic Stadium for HKS

The mayor of Regina, a town of more than 200,000 located in the southern region of Saskatchewan, had a vision to replace the 81-year-old Mosaic Stadium, home of the Roughriders. He initiated a public-private partnership to develop a new multi- purpose stadium that could be home for the team and also be able to host concerts, special events, and eventually attract related development to spur economic growth. Providing structural engineering for the new venue, which the mayor called “the best stadium in Canada,” Walter P Moore demonstrated engineering excellence in several ways, including use of industry-leading digital workflow and a parametric modeling to optimize the overall canopy configuration and truss design for the soaring, iconic structure.
