Relieving Congestion

VRX: 35 Express, Segment 3, over Lake Lewisville, Texas for AGL Constructors & TxDOT

The $1.4 billion TxDOT 35Express project added capacity to relieve congestion on 30 miles of IH 35E through eight cities and two counties. Segment 3 involved constructing a bridge over Lewisville Lake, which was experiencing severe flooding, and crossing U.S. Corps of Engineers-owned land while protecting zebra-mussel-infested waters, all in a highly sensitive area. VRX provided successful environmental compliance, including management and inspection, natural resource management, and environmental training, among other services. Working with the construction staff, TxDOT, the USACE and TPWD, the firm developed and implemented innovative mitigation measures to protect aquatic resources, provide habitat enhancement, and prevent the spread of invasive zebra mussels.
