Well Worth The Effort

Parkhill, Smith & Cooper: Borger Northwest Wellfield Project

Faced with historic drought conditions in the Texas Panhandle, Parkhill, Smith & Cooper worked with the City of Borger to develop a new wellfield in order to secure a $720 million industrial expansion for the community. The system consists of seven wells, 13.5 miles of transmission pipeline, 6 miles of collection pipeline, a primary pump station, two 1-million-gallon ground storage tanks, and a hybrid standpipe—the tallest of its kind in the United States at that time and currently the tallest in the state. The final construction cost was $4.5 million under budget and produces 1.5 MGD over what was needed.
